Maggie the One on One'der Dog
Maggie is One on One's fearless mascot, fighting for truth, justice, healthy eating and lots of walks and exercise each and every day!
Once a upon a time, on a farm far, far away a puppy named Maggie was born. Maggie had 7 brothers and sisters. She was the smallest of the pups, weighing just a few ounces. Maggie's parents weren't sure Maggie would survive the night. She did survive, and even managed to grow a little as the days went by.
Maggie's brothers and sisters ate all their dog food and continued to grow to be big strong, healthy pups. But Maggie didn't like to eat her dog food. She preferred to eat chips, candy and cookies. She was a sickly little pup, known as the "runt of the litter." Her mother and father worried about her day and night, concerned that their sweet little Maggie wouldn't grow up to be a big, strong dog like her brothers and sisters, who ran around the farm jumping, barking and playing all day long. Maggie just laid around saying "I don't feel like playing today!" One morning Maggie's brothers and sisters went to their mother, concerned about their sister." Momma, what's wrong with Maggie? She never feels like playing with us. You and Poppa worry about her all the time. Is she sick or something?"
"I don't know," answered their mother. "Your father and I are concerned about her. She is so small and tired all the time. We don't know how to help her." Maggie's owners were concerned about her too. " She may never grow to be a big strong dog. It is very sad," they said." We wish we knew how to help little Maggie."
One by one people adopted Maggie's brothers and sisters, but never Maggie. "She's too small and sickly looking.", they would say as they left with one of the other puppies. Soon only Maggie was left. One afternoon Maggie asked her mother, "Momma, I know I'm the "Runt", but why doesn't anyone want to adopt me? I'd be a good pup. I'd mind them and not chew on their favorite shoes. What's wrong with me?"
"I don't know, dear. It's ok. Don't you worry. Your father and I are very happy to have you stay right here with us. We love you very much," Maggie's mother said softly, hugging Maggie to her. But Maggie was lonely without her brothers and sisters wrestling around and asking her to play. She wanted a family of her own and wished someone would come to the farm where she lived and say, " I want her! I want Maggie to be my puppy!"
As the days passed Maggie began to forget about the idea of having a family of her very own. It was just a faded memory. Then one day a fancy blue car drove up to the farm. A man and woman stepped out of the car and asked Maggie's owners if they had any puppies left. "I hope they pick me," Maggie thought to herself. "Maybe I will have a family of my very own after all!"
"Well," said Maggie's owners,"we have one left, she's kind of small, the runt of the litter, but I'll let you take a look and see what you think." "I don't know", said the man, "She is awful small and sickly looking."
"Oh, she's little but look how sweet she is," said the woman as she picked Maggie up and covered her with kisses. "I think we can help her. Let's take her home!" Maggie's heart leapt with joy. "Finally, a family of my very own!" Maggie buried her face in the woman's hair, feeling excited to start her new adventure. As luck would have it the man is a fitness trainer and owner of One on One Fitness, named Anthony. The woman is the man's wife and a nurse, named Kim. Together the two of them worked to help Maggie get comfortable in her new home and develop good healthy habits.
Anthony took Maggie on long, adventurous walks every morning. Kim fixed Maggie tasty nutritious meals three times a day and two snacks, which helped to curb her appetite for the junk food she had been eating on the farm. At night they made Maggie go to bed early so she would be full of energy to meet the challenges of the next day. They both played with and loved Maggie so much that she grew and grew.
Maggie now weighs 10lbs. and is a happy, healthy pup with lots and lots of energy and great big bark! So now you know how Maggie came to be "Maggie the One on One'der Dog."
